Phoenix Pool Series 2007 

Results Event 4: Saturday 25th August

Local talent prevailed at the fourth and final event of the 2007 Phoenix Pool Series as Chesterfield’s Adam Foyster was victorious last weekend at Nottingham.

Adam defeated Alfreton’s Liam Bullock in the final after defeating Derby’s Dean Statham the round previously. Liam reached the final having beaten Lincolnshire’s Aidan Owens in the other semi-final. Aidan, therefore, missed out on a hat-trick of Phoenix events having won Events 2 and 3.

The match of the round in Round One saw the two England internationals Neil Davey and Bayden Jackson square off and after two hours it was Neil who got through by the odd frame in eleven. Neil’s reward was a tie with county team-mate Aidan Owens and despite his international status many would have been forgiven for making Neil the underdog in this clash as Aidan had dominated the Series up to this point., and so it proved as Aidan went through 6-5. Dean Statham, meanwhile, had a long match with Darren Finch before winning the match 6-4. Dean continued his good run with the same score wins over Mark White and Liam Stanley to mark an impressive list of victories. Liam Bullock had a walkover in Round One then beat local rival Dean Watson to progress. With all eyes on the favourites few seemed to notice Adam Foyster make steady progress through the rounds and by then the youngster’s confidence was sky-high.

In the end the Chesterfield player completed the day unbeaten to walk away with the £200 first prize. Neil Davey finished with the consolation prize as winner of the plate event, defeating Rob Cork in the final.

A big thanks go to the management and staff at Phoenix Cue Sports for a wonderful Series and to the players, many travelling from as far as London, Cambridge, Suffolk, Manchester, Yorkshire and all around the midlands. Roll on next year!
