Phoenix Singles Leagues 

Open Pool Singles Rules

Introduction

The following rules apply to the Phoenix Open Singles League to be played at Phoenix Cue Sports, Eastwood.

Entry Fees

Entry fee for the season is £60. There will be no subs.

Phoenix Cue Sports will hold entry fees in our competition bank account.

Prize money

All entry fees will be distributed as prize money.

The exact distribution will be calculated depending on the number of players.

League Format

To be decided according to number of entries.

Matches

All matches to be played to WEBF World Rules.

All Matches to be played over 8 frames. When one player gets to 5 frames, Or the score reaches 4 frames each, the match is finished

The break of the first frame will be decided by coin toss OR lag. Subsequent frames will be alternate breaks.

Three points will be awarded for a win, one for draw.

Only one match to be played each week unless a rescheduled match has to be played.

Fixtures will be published in full at the beginning of the season. These will be given to all players, and available on www.phoenixcuesports.com for review.

 The League Table

The league will be updated each week, and will be available on www.phoenixcuesports.com , and on our notice board.

League position will be decided by the following criteria, in order 

  1. Points
  2. Frame Difference
  3. Frames Won
  4. Head to Head Results
  5. Coin Toss

 Attendance

Lateness

If you are going to be late, please let us know ASAP.

If you haven't arrived 30 minutes after your game was due to start and we haven't heard anything from you, the game will be awarded 5 - 0 to the opposing player.

If neither player turns up it is the home player’s (as on fixtures for that date) responsibility to reschedule game. Please see section below.

Postponed Matches

If you are unable to play a match, please let us know 48 hours in advance, if possible. This allows us to inform your opponent.

We understand that emergencies happen, but late notice of non-attendance must be the exception rather than the rule.

If you haven't arrived 30 minutes after your game was due to start and we haven't heard anything from you, the game will be awarded 5 - 0 to the opposing player.

Rescheduled matches

All matches must be played with 14 days of the original match date. Matches can be played at The Phoenix at any time just inform a staff member of result.

The match must be arranged by the person who did not show OR the home player (on fixtures) if both players do not show to the scheduled match.

 Rescheduled matches and points awarded

 If the match is not played within 14 days the points will be awarded according to the following circumstances:

1. If the player does not show for original match and does not attempt to reschedule match the game will be awarded 5-0 to the opposing player.

2. If the match is rescheduled and a player does not show the full rules contained here still apply.

3. If neither player showed for original match and the match has not been rescheduled the game will be awarded as a 4 – 4 draw, and both players will receive a 1 point penalty.

The player who cancelled the scheduled match is responsible for rescheduling. A full list of contact numbers will be issued at the start of the season and will also be available from the organisers.  

If you have problems contacting your opponent to rearrange the match, you must let us know before the 14 day period is complete

Players leaving the league

If a player leaves the league during the course of the season, the following rules will apply;

No entry fees will be returned, to ensure a consistent prize fund.

If less than two thirds of the matches have been played;

A substitute player may join the league. They all keep all the results of the departing player and continue as per their schedule of matches.

If no substitute player is found, all results from that player will be removed from the league.

If at least two thirds of the matches have been played;

All remaining matches will be awarded 5 – 0.

Any player not finishing at least 90% their matches will not be eligible for any prizes or playoff positions.

 Arbitration

All decisions outside the scope of this document are to be made by the league organisers, and will be binding.
